I am not one to make New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t resolve myself to losing weight or drinking less. Well, I guess I do, but I don’t put these things off to the beginning of the year. New Year’s resolutions have become synonymous with something that you break after the first week, and hey, that’s okay. It was just a New Year’s Resolution. No one expects you to keep those anyway! Making one automatically gives you an excuse to not keep up with it.
So screw that.
I do, however, have a couple of goals that I would like to strive towards. First off, I would like to read 100 books this year. I will be keeping track of what I’ve read so far in 2013 on this blog. It is fortuitous that I finished up a book last night (Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich), so I can start 2013 with a fresh slate of books to read. Today I am beginning The Black Box by Michael Connelly, and I hope to be finished with it by tomorrow night. We’ll see how that goes!
Another goal is to keep up with my wellness training. In 2012, I went from weighing 135lbs to 114lbs. My goal is to maintain a weight of 110-115lbs this year and to improve my cardio and muscle tone. My heart and lungs have never been the strongest. I don’t have anything wrong with me–no asthema, no heart issues–it just my cardio sucks. I want to be able to take the stairs up to my office without wheezing by the time I get to the top.
My last goal is to maintain this blog. I want to have a record of my writing and reading, and I also want to have some accountability outside of myself.
What sorts of goals have you set for yourself this year?
