Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award

Amazon has announced their yearly Breakthrough Novel Award Contest for 2013. You can submit your novel for a chance to win $50,000 and a publishing contract through Amazon. This year marks the first year that Amazon is sole-publisher. Previously they have worked with Penguin, but the change, they say, allows for “a faster publishing timeline, higher royalties, ability to launch the books in multiple formats (print, audio, ebook) and worldwide distribution.”

I’m still not sure if I’m going to enter or not. I’m still not done doing the edits that I want to do to Winter Ever After, and I definitely won’t be finished with the book that I’m currently working on. Then again, I don’t want to wait until next year. I still have 2 weeks to decide and prepare. Perhaps I still will–which means, ugh, I’ll have to write the pitch/synopsis (300 words, seriously!?)

Will you be entering?

  1. Hi There, If you want to enter you should submit your manuscript because once they reach 10,000 entries the contest is closed. You can keep making changes (and uploading new versions of the manuscript) until the contest closes. Good luck!

    1. Ah yes, now that you mention it, I do remember that stipulation from the previous years. I believe I need to go back and thoroughly read the rules. Thanks for the reminder!
