Wednesday Writing Prompt #9

Write a Tanka.

A Tanka is a Japanese form of poetry similar to a haiku. Instead of 3 lines, however, a Tanka is 5 lines. The first line has 5 syllables, the second has 7, the third has 5, and then the forth and fifth lines are 7 syllables. Generally, Tankas are are about nature or changing seasons, but they can also be about love, loneliness, or any other strong emotion.


His Touch

A glorious touch,
His fingers caress my face,
Immediate heat
Glowing like a dull fire,
Dancing underneath my skin.
