Dockery Lake is a teeny lake off of HWY 60, north of Dahlonega. It’s actually a place that Greg and I had never hiked before, and this past weekend, we decided to rectify this situation. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. The sun was shining and there was a slight, cool breeze the entire hike. The trail starts at Dockery Lake and 3.7 miles later, dead ends into the Appalachian Trail. It’s a moderate hike with some hill climbing.
Last weekend, it was warm and Greg and I went canoeing. This weekend, it was in the 30s and we had frost this morning (R.I.P Spiderplant [for, like, the 12th time]). But we didn’t let the cold stop us. We bundled up and headed to someplace even colder – Brasstown Bald. Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia. And while it’s not a long hike (.6 miles one-way, 1.2 in total), it’s pretty and it’s steep. It was a clear and crisp day on top of the mountain, and you could see for many, many miles in every direction.
